Second most visited site in France! Situated on the right bank of the Aude river, the Medieval City is a ortiied city unlike any other in Europe; on account of its size as well as its state of preservation. Its history is marked by 2000 years of conquest aand by the imprint of Catharism and the Crusaders. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and bars within the castle. Carcassonne Cite (castle) is only a 15 min drive from our house or a 10 mins train trip to Carcassonne where a tourist train (April-October) waits for you to bring you to the castle!
